Key Accountabilities

Planning and Organising

  • Oversees ICM press and media outreach
  • Manages the ICM website
  • Oversees all digital and social media properties for ICM newsletter, Twitter, Facebook and other social media
  • Develops op-eds and key editorial pieces
  • Conducts and oversees writing, editing, production, dissemination, and tracking, including coordination of content within all promotional materials (across multiple platforms – including, but not limited to, presentations, digital content, video, photography, website content, blogs, social media posts, e-blasts, collateral materials and external reports).

Management

  • Supports the implementation and monitoring of the ICM work-plan
  • Reviews/updates ICM’s organization-wide communications plan
  • Supports the management of relationships and projects plans, timelines, and budgets with work that may require external consultants or vendors (e.g., designers, printers, videographers, photographers, consultants.)
  • Knowledge and Experience
  • Solid knowledge of and experience with developing and executing advocacy and communications campaigns using research, public events, and media
  • Fluency in graphic design and associated technologies e.g. InDesign and WordPress
  • Expertise in midwifery, international maternal, sexual and reproductive health and rights, with an emphasis on girls and women preferred

Qualifications

  • BA/BS required in related field such as communications, journalism, international affairs, public health, human rights, or gender; Master’s degree preferred
  • 5-7 years of media/communications experience in an NGO, UN agency, a communications agency, a media outlet, or corporation

Skills and Attributes

  • Superior English oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines (everyone says this, ICM means it).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and resourcefulness in solving problems, with sense of humor a plus
  • Intermediate proficiency in Spanish and French, a much-needed plus
  • Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms 
  • Proficiency in the use of Photoshop, InDesign and Microsoft Office
