The Institute is looking to recruit a person to job share reception duties at the Main Building at 61 Whitehall, London. Job share would be for the 1300-1730 shift on each weekday. These duties will include: locking up the Institute Main Building at 1730 unless there are events taking place outside these hours; welcoming guests to the Institute and directing them as necessary; responding to telephone calls to both the Institute’s Whitehall offices; and, ensuring that the Institute’s mail is collected at the end of the working day.

As Members’ Events Coordinator the individual will also manage administration, logistical aspects, and smooth running of RUSI’s series of Members’ Events from initial arrangements and publicity to the event itself on the day.

The Receptionist and Members’ Events Coordinator will be responsible to Sabrina Downey, Director Projects & Events and will work closely with Neil Watling, Executive Officer to the Director General & Membership Executive.

This role requires a person with strong administrative skills, a polite and professional phone manner, and previous reception and customer service experience including arranging of catering and audio-visual services. They must have the ability to work as part of a team and unsupervised. A natural sense of tact and diplomacy is required. Experience of working with government officials and visitors from abroad is important. The individuals should be enthusiastic, self–motivated, flexible and reliable, and have experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
