The British Medical Association (BMA) is the professional association and trade union for doctors and medical students in the UK. The BMA speaks for doctors at all stages of their careers and is a leading voice on a wide range of professional and political issues affecting medicine and health.
We are looking for a talented policy professional to cover up to 12 months maternity leave, commencing in September as the Head of our International and Immigration department. In this role, you will lead and manage a high performing team to develop policy and provide advice on international and immigration issues. Reporting to the Head of Professionalism and Guidance, you will oversee the development of briefings and guidance for members, and manage key stakeholder relationships. You will also advise senior staff and the BMA's elected leadership on key issues.
To be successful in this role you will need experience of influencing policy on international and/or immigration issues, as well as experience of leading and managing people. You must be articulate and confident, with excellent writing and presentation skills and the ability to form strategic relationships key stakeholders. You will also demonstrate sound political judgement, tact and diplomacy. You may be required to travel within the UK and abroad.
