Jo Johnson MP is looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic Parliamentary Assistant for his Westminster Office

Key Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable with working independently as well as part of a small team
• Good administrative and IT skills
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
• Experience of working for a Member of Parliament is preferable

Job Description:
• Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure Member is accurately informed on key issues
• Monitor media coverage, liaise with local media, prepare articles and press releases as required
• Prepare and present briefing/speaking notes for the MP
• Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries from constituents regarding local and national policy issues
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Attend surgeries and meetings as appropriate
• Undertake research, usually from readily available sources, on straightforward subjects
• Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the MP is accurately informed on key issues
• Manage the MP’s website contents

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
