BrexitCentral seeks an additional Deputy Editor to join its team providing news and analysis of the UK's departure from the EU and promoting a positive and optimistic vision of Britain after Brexit.
Your duties will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of BrexitCentral’s morning news summary and daily email briefing
- Creating video content, audio content and graphics for sharing on social media
- Promoting BrexitCentral’s content on social media
- Media monitoring to help identify breaking news stories that require coverage
- Producing original content for the BrexitCentral website as required
- Helping to commission content from external authors
- Attending events as required
- Acting as a media commentator as required
You should have:
- Good written English
- An understanding of the current political climate, in particular relating to Brexit
- A good eye for news stories
- A basic understanding of HTML
- Experience using social media, in particular Twitter, Facebook, YouTube
- Experience of editing visual media: familiarity with MailChimp, Wordpress and WPEngine are preferable, although training can be provided to a fast learner
- A basic understanding of audio editing with competence in Adobe Audition, Audacity or similar
- A willingness to work flexible hours: the job requires some early starts and weekend working in return for time off during the week
