Job Details

Permanent, Full-time

The Mental Health Foundation is the UK’s Charity for everyone’s mental health. With prevention at the heart of what we do, we aim to find and address the sources of mental health problems so that people and communities can thrive. Since the best way to deal with a crisis is to prevent it from happening in the first place, we inform and influence the development of evidence-based mental health policy at national and local government level. In tandem, we help people to access information about the steps they can take to reduce their mental health risks and increase their resilience.

Our vision is for a world with good mental health for all.

Our mission is to help people understand, protect and sustain their mental health.

You will be responsible for grant applications and grants management for the work of the Foundation in England and Wales. In this significant role you will support the Policy Manager and Senior Policy Officer to develop and deliver a policy strategy programme and work across the Foundation to ensure that policy informs and supports all aspects of what we do.

You will oversee the day to day management of a variety of activities and support a programme of engagement with external stakeholders to pursue our policy objectives and achieve policy changes at a national and local level. With an ability to critically analyse and synthesise complex information, you’ll develop an understanding of the mental health policy, research and service environment in order to identify influencing opportunities and areas where there is a need for further research and development work. You will also be responsible for ensuring effective daily public affairs monitoring for your colleagues across the organisation and be expected to carry out ad-hoc policy tasks designated by the Policy Manager.

A track record in policy and public affairs is essential and you need to have strong critical thinking ability, excellent written and verbal communication skills and be proficient in event and project management. Educated to degree level, you will be willing to work flexibly to meet the needs of the Foundation and demonstrate a commitment to public mental health and to our core values.

Strictly no recruitment agencies please.
