Chinese for Labour was formed in 1999 to promote the interests of Chinese people in the Labour Party and improve the quality of life of the Chinese community in Britain. The Chinese community is the fastest growing non-European ethnic group in the UK. We are closely associated to The Labour Party in the United Kingdom which is a democratic socialist party. It believes that by the strength of our common endeavour we achieve more than we achieve alone, so as to create for each of us the means to realise our true potential and for all of us a community in which power, wealth and opportunities are in the hands of the many not the few, where the rights we enjoy reflect the duties we owe, and where we live together, freely, in a spirit of solidarity, tolerance and respect.
Chinese for Labour seeks to:
- Increase the recruitment of Chinese people to the Labour Party
- Increase the involvement and representation of Chinese people within the Labour Party
- Increase Chinese support for the Labour Party at elections
We are looking for an intern to support the Executive Committee for 2 day a week for 3 months. This role involves:
- Conduct research
- Stakeholder mapping
- Event planning and organisation
- Generate content for social media and website
- Update database
The right candidate will have:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organisation and administrative skills
- Attention to details
- Ability to work independently, reliably and creatively
- Ability to problem-solve and multi-task
- Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office
- Sympathetic to the values and aims of the Labour Party
- Preferably fluent in mandarin
