Key responsibilities:

• Respond to constituents on all policy-related issues and mass political campaigns
• Undertake research on subjects covering local, national and international issues
• Prepare and present briefing notes for the Member’s meetings and media engagements
• Maintain the Member’s parliamentary diary and inbox
• Write news releases, columns and newsletters detailing the Member’s work for their constituents
• Develop the strategy, communication and delivery of the Member’s constituency campaigns
• Monitor Parliamentary business and develop knowledge of relevant legislation
• Ensure records are kept and cases are logged adhering to GDPR and respecting the confidentiality of data at all times
• Develop knowledge in specialist areas as required by the Member
• Update the Member’s website and maximise their social media presence

Key skills:

• In-depth knowledge and experience of Parliament and UK politics
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work appropriately to constituency, political and Ministerial boundaries
• Strong analytical and research skills
• The ability to work to tight deadlines
• Flexibility and the ability to prioritise
• Motivation and clear commitment to help the people of Beverley and Holderness

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
