At Progress we are offering a number of volunteering opportunities to build your skills and help make a real difference. We have just launched a volunteer programme where you will be part of a supported network of people. Volunteers are involved in a lot of different roles in campaigning, social media and editorial work and can all be undertaken remotely.

Events volunteers

Our events team run events to support our work across the country. We are looking for volunteers to help provide support organising our events programme throughout the year. This particular role will give you experience of areas such as relationship building, volunteer coordination, and events management, as well as helping  you to build your understanding of UK politics.

Your tasks would include responding to queries and enquiries relating to our events, supporting speakers, researching subject matter and assisting the events manager in curating and delivering an exciting programme.

Social media and design volunteers

We communicate our message through platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and are looking for people with an interest in social media and design to help us to reach a wider audience.

This particular role will give you the experience in areas like how to build and engage and audience online, how advertising works on social media platforms, how to understand and use social media analytics as well as help you build your understanding of UK politics.

Your tasks would include drafting posts of social media, helping us source interesting content for us to share, produce graphics and support the creation of video content as well as working with our editorial team to cover our live events.

Volunteer sub-editors

One way we promote and discuss new ideas for the centre-left is through our editorial content. With a regular magazine, weekly podcast and website we are never short of new content that we want to promote.

This particular role will give you experience in areas such as making political arguments and editing articles for publication. You will also build your understanding of UK politics and join our network of writers and thinkers.

Your tasks will include pitching new commissions, writing for our website, sub-editing articles and helping us promote our content on and offline.

Phonebank Volunteers

As a campaigning membership organisation it is important that we are talking to our supporters regularly so they can engage with and shape our work. One of the most important ways we do this is by picking up the phone.

This particular role will give you experience in areas like how to get people to take engage and then action on campaigns, how to fundraise as well as help you build your understanding of UK politics

Your tasks will include speaking to our members and supporters about the campaigns we are running inside the Labour party and externally as well as supporting our fundraising efforts.
