Job Title: Country Manager, Scotland
Working For: The Democratic Society
Salary: £37,000 - £42,000 before tax (with more available for an exceptional candidate)
We are looking for an experienced person to lead our work and grow our presence in Scotland. Over the last four years, the Democratic Society (Demsoc) has led innovative participatory projects with government at all levels and most recently in the housing sector. We are now entering an exciting new phase and are looking for someone who can take our work, our offer, and our partnerships in Scotland to the next level, building on strong existing relationships across government, public sector organisations, and communities.
With a focus on developing new work and winning new funding, delivering existing Scottish projects and building a new team based in Scotland that forms part of the international Demsoc family, the ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial flair and outstanding project management and people skills. A passion for involving citizens in public decision-making is important, as is an understanding of the lively political and policy debates in Holyrood and across Scottish local and national governments.
If you are creative and committed to the cause of better democracy, equally comfortable working with politicians and senior civil servants as with community organisers and citizens, we want to hear from you. If you can create, win, plan and deliver democracy and governance related projects and are ready to manage and grow this country team – then this is a rare and exciting opportunity to help shape the future of democracy in Scotland and beyond.
