The organisation
The Charity Retail Association is the only body in the UK to represent the interests of charity shops. Our members range from high street brands like Oxfam and Cancer Research UK, to individual hospice shops and everything in between. Together they represent around 80% of all UK charity stores.

We lobby and campaign as the voice of the sector, provide business insight to charities through research, and put on high profile networking and learning events to support our members.

The role
This role is an exciting opportunity to help us to grow our presence in Scotland, the Scottish Parliament and amongst key third sector partners, and to communicate effectively with our Scottish members.

The post is based at home but will maintain excellent communication links to the CRA’s public affairs team based in London.

The role will represent the voice of the Charity Retail Association in Scotland and will therefore be required to have easy access to Edinburgh and Glasgow to attend meetings and political events on our behalf with politicians and policy makers.

The candidate
The successful candidate will:
• have a track record of influencing policy
• be a confident network builder with a history of sustaining political relationships
• have an excellent understanding of Scottish politics, policy making and the Scottish political environment
• be a self-starter able to work unsupervised and on their own initiative
• have excellent interpersonal skills and understanding of how to communicate with staff and volunteers in the charity retail sector

The package
Pension – after satisfactory completion of 3 months' probation the CRA will contribute 10% of salary to the company pension scheme
Holiday – 25 days (pro rata) plus week between Christmas and New Year
Reporting to – Head of Public Affairs and Research
