The CGP will work in Westminster and across the country to educate and engage policy makers and thought leaders on the importance of the UK's role in the world, and the impact on our aid spending.

Job Overview
Our new office, based in Westminster, is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated and highly organised Events Planning Assistant. As part of the UK’s fight against global poverty, our small yet dedicated team works with the policy makers, politicians and journalists to support and promote UK Aid. We organise a number of public and private events with high profile speakers throughout the year. The successful candidate will be capable of balancing a range of responsibilities in an exciting and fast-paced environment, in order to effectively assist the CEO and Senior Public Affairs and Policy Manager, and assist in organising events ahead of the Party Conference season.

Skills
The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic, capable and adaptable in order to organise a range of research, and events tasks. They will have strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage a broad caseload and work on their own initiative. The ideal candidate will be forward thinking and able contribute to the further development of our organisation as we grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Senior Public Affairs and Policy manager in planning events with high-profile speakers
  • Undertaking research on different development topics and assisting in the production of event proposals and speaker briefs
  • Assisting on Social Media coverage of events, e.g. Twitter / Facebook
  • Monitoring and evaluating of our events for donor reporting

Desirable Experience

  • Experience and interest in international development and supportive of the work done by UK Aid
  • Previous experience working in event logistics
  • Independent worker, self-starter who can take responsibility for projects through to completion
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
