Steve McCabe MP is looking for an enthusiastic person to join his busy constituency office as a Parliamentary Intern for 2 months on a full time basis.
The role will include:
• Assisting on projects
• Assisting/learning how to manage casework
• Monitoring of local media, drafting releases and social media content
• Learning/assisting in drafting responses to constituents on wide range of policy issues
• Learning how to analyse, evaluate and interpret data
• Learning/assisting in appropriate research
• Assisting with answering telephone and dealing with enquiries appropriately
• Basic administrative support
• Assisting with diary management
Personal Specification
• Be well organised, have the ability to work to tight deadlines, manage competing priorities and have an eye for detail
• Good communication and people skills and confident when interacting with people
• Good knowledge of local area and issues affecting the constituency is desirable
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Competent IT knowledge including Microsoft Office
• Sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the Labour Party and politically aware
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
