Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, is looking for a part time Parliamentary Assistant (3 days a week) to join his team in the Westminster Office.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, innovative, energetic, team player, eager to learn and want to make a difference.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

• Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure Member is accurately informed on key issues
• Develop and maintain current knowledge of bills, Early day Motions, legislation, Hansard, debates etc.
• Diary Management
• Ensure the Member is fully briefed in potential questions and motions to be put to the house
• Give advice on policy issues
• Monitor media coverage and brief the Member on relevant issues
• Prepare and present briefing notes for committees, press releases, parliamentary questions etc.
• Progress casework as required
• Project Management
• Project Work
• Provide generalist admin support
• Respond to routine correspondence and enquiries
• Supervise staff members where appropriate
• Undertake research, usually from readily available sources, on straightforward subjects

This post would ideally suit a recent graduate or somebody looking for their first job in Parliament.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
