Working For: Social Market Foundation

Location: London

Salary: Competitive

Length of Contract:

Job Details

The Social Market Foundation is recruiting a new Head of Events and Partnerships. This is an opportunity to join the senior management team of one of Westminster’s leading think-tanks and play a central role in public debate about policy and politics.

The successful applicant will take charge of the SMF events programme, devising and executing plans for debates, speeches and roundtable discussions where participants include Cabinet ministers, senior MPs of all parties, civil servants, chief executives and leading academics. You will manage a team that is also responsible for the SMF’s publications, media contacts, social media presence and relations with academic institutions, public bodies and commercial stakeholders.

You will be comfortable engaging with senior political stakeholders and managing relationships with the SMF’s network of supporters, and contributing to our charitable fundraising work. Reporting to the SMF Director, you will help set the agenda for the think-tank, contributing fully to decisions about research and strategy.

Experience in politics, policy or public affairs is not a requirement for this role, but a deep interest in policy and politics is. The Social Market Foundation is a cross-party think-tank committed to evidence-based policies that deliver fair markets and open public services. SMF staff and trustees include people who are members of all parties.

This is a full-time role but the SMF is committed to flexible and family-friendly working arrangements and open to discussing working patterns that best suit staff. Applications from candidates returning to work after career breaks for childcare or other caring responsibilities are actively encouraged.

For a confidential discussion about the role, salary and working arrangements, contact James Kirkup, SMF Director, on james@smf.co.uk
