The Financial Ombudsman Service, set up by Parliament, resolves individual complaints between financial businesses and their customers. We can look into problems involving most types of money matters – from payday loans to pensions, from pet insurance to PPI – and give an unbiased answer about what’s happened. If we decide someone's been treated unfairly, we have legal powers to put things right.
We are looking for a policy and communications coordinator to manage enquiries from our government and regulatory stakeholders as well as from journalists. This is a fast-paced and varied role, ideal for someone looking to build or broaden engagement skills and experience. On any one day you might manage emails from government officials, answer journalists’ calls, or liaise with regulatory advisers. You’ll also have chance to work flexibly across the stakeholder team, helping us build relationships with the people and organisations that have an interest in what we do.
You’ll be a ‘can do’ person, focused on delivering a great end result to our internal and external customers. As well as having the confidence to ask when things aren’t clear, you’ll be comfortable dealing with colleagues at all levels across the ombudsman. Juggling a number of tasks at once and being good at prioritising should be second nature to you, managing your time effectively to ensure you deliver what you say you will.
