Job Details

Do you want to work with some of the brightest, most exciting people to help bring about social change?

We are looking for an outstanding all-rounder with a broad range of skills and an appetite to learn, to play an important role in our busy team. This is an entry-level position with enormous scope for professional advancement; the successful individual will make a genuine impact on the work of a dynamic ‘think and do tank’ while having space to grow and develop.

We want an individual who can combine two essential elements of delivering impactful research in a ‘think and do tank’. On the one hand, the successful individual will support the day to day planning, delivery and management of various action and research projects. That means playing an important role in events organisation, budget administration and report production, from style-editing to proofing and typesetting on InDesign. On the other, you will have responsibility for building and maintaining a series of tools that can track and visualise key metrics of the Action and Research Centre’s work, with support from the rest of the coordination team.

You will provide effective and timely programme delivery and project management support to several research projects, with an initial focus on the work of the Economy and Development teams. This means you will get to work hands on with a range of action and research programmes, seeing them through from inception to conclusion. You will also have the opportunity and space to work at a cross-team level. By maintaining and developing a series of resources able to provide important data insights, you will inform the oversight work of the Action and Research Centre’s head and team of directors, providing you with a great opportunity to enhance your data analysis and insight tool building skills.

We expect that the individual who takes up this role will develop considerably; we’re not looking for the finished item. However, it is essential that you come to the role with a series of key competencies. You must be comfortable with complexity and able to work flexibly within a busy team environment. Experience of event organisation and, crucially, excellent proofreading skills are also essential. We also expect the successful candidate to join with a good understanding of Microsoft Excel.
