Tate aims to be the most artistically adventurous and culturally inclusive global art museum. They deliver this aim through activities in their four galleries across the UK (Tate Liverpool, Tate St Ives, Tate Britain and Tate Modern), their digital platforms and collaborations with their national and international partners. At the heart of Tate is their beautiful collection of art, which includes British art from the 16th century to the present day, and international modern art from 1900 to the present day.
The Development division is responsible for all fundraising at Tate, implementing strategies to raise support for a variety of revenue and capital projects.
This team is currently looking for an intern to work in the Major Gifts and Public Sector department and participate in some of the most exciting national and international projects the gallery has to offer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with organising and hosting donor events during Frieze week
- Have responsibility for your own project to work on throughout the placement, to develop your confidence and skills in a particular area of fundraising
- Learn how Tate maintains existing donors and cultivates prospective donors including the accurate recording, updating and maintaining of confidential data
- Attend and observe at least one Acquisitions Committee meeting
- Draft correspondence to donors
- Work on online communications about activities at Tate for the Acquisitions Committees
- Be trained in using a number of databases including Raiser’s Edge, The Museum System (TMS), Relationship Management System (RMS) and ENTA
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience of working in a museum or gallery is not required, but must be able to demonstrate a passion and interest
- Ability to demonstrate how you will benefit from the opportunity and how it will help you to build a better future

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Be numerate in order to work with tracking income and expenditure
