Key Responsibilities

  • Line managing public affairs activity within the PPA Directorate
  • Providing timely advice on political developments and recommendations on related LCCI lobbying tactics
  • Preparing submissions and responses to relevant consultations and inquiries
  • Identifying opportunities to maximise awareness of future-thinking/thought leadership activity to the benefit of members
  • Developing high-impact influencing initiatives to shape political and key stakeholder audiences.
  • Maintaining an active programme of government contact with Ministers, advisers and departmental officials
  • Maintaining an active programme of parliamentary contact with MPs, advisers and Westminster officials
  • Ensuring political balance is achieved in LCCI political activity
  • Liaising with LCCI member companies to promote their policy issues in line with LCCI objectives and team priorities
  • Identifying opportunities for, and/or threats to, the LCCI corporate agenda in the public policy area
  • Ensuring LCCI staff are informed on relevant political/public policy development
  • Ensuring research projects of relevance to London businesses are effectively communicated to LCCI members and other stakeholders

Essential

  • External/public/corporate affairs experience via in-house, consultancy or political party
  • Strong experience of Campaigning
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Westminster and Whitehall
  • Team management and collective target-setting
  • Clear understanding and experience of City Hall and London Assembly workings
  • Proven experience of influencing at a senior level internally and externally
  • Confidence to command respect of political and public policy figures
  • Aptitude for planning and prioritising work and meeting deadlines
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ability to communicate across all levels with strong networking skills
  • Creativity, innovation and strategic thinking
  • Proven experience of developing/utilising strong working partnerships
  • Drive, pro-activity & autonomous working
  • Decision making
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Attendance at out-of-hours meetings and events
