Are you curious? And an organised thinker? Are you keen to develop your skills within a dynamic public policy environment and play a key role in working to protect and promote the health and safety of the public? If this is the case then the GMC, the UK’s independent medical regulator, wants to hear from you.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the Regulation Policy team or the new Strategy team, to contribute to major public policy issues and influence the future of medical regulation.

You are likely to be a recent graduate or postgraduate with a passion for applying structured and critical thinking to challenging issues.

In the regulation policy team, you will help us respond to or help shape developments in the health and regulatory sectors. This could include preparing responses for external reviews, horizon scanning and informing policy positions on a diverse range of issues such as telemedicine.

In the Strategy Team, you will support a portfolio of projects to support the delivery of cross-organisational strategy, which could include undertaking rapid reviews on issues of strategic importance and helping to shape the longer term direction of the organisation.

You will need to be comfortable working with senior staff and in an environment where there are often no ‘off the shelf’ answers. You will require enthusiasm, flexibility and initiative, and the ability to work well with others.

Knowledge of current healthcare policy issues would be advantageous. But more importantly, we expect a commitment to the values of an organisation that is focused on patient protection. This role is the opportunity to work within one of the largest healthcare regulators within the UK, shaping change within healthcare. In return, you’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people. We offer an attractive package that includes a defined contribution pension scheme, private medical insurance and a generous holiday allowance.
