Richard Graham is looking for a motivated Parliamentary Researcher to join his team and support his work to help make Gloucester the Best Small City in the UK. This role combines responsibilities in both Parliament and Gloucester and is ideal for someone interested in how local issues inform policy making and vice versa. The main sectoral focus for this job is on domestic policy including health, education, energy, the environment, regeneration and social issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake research and support parliamentary and constituency activities
  • Draft parliamentary questions and correspondence with local organisations
  • Attend meetings with or on behalf of Richard as required (in London/Gloucester)
  • Monitor parliamentary business and identify debates/meetings/talks/projects of interest
  • Manage the drafting and publishing of social media, press releases and local news articles
  • Help manage Richard’s London diary
  • Project manage national and local projects to get positive outcomes
  • Coordinate APPG meetings as required
  • Drafting responses to policy-related correspondence

The successful candidate will have most of the following attributes/abilities:

  • Knowledge of Parliament, Gloucester and/or Gloucestershire (preferable)
  • Willing to adapt to flexible working arrangements with potential to spend periods during recess in the constituency
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • A keen interest in politics and current affairs
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Strong research and IT skills
  • Sympathetic to the values of the Conservative Party and Richard’s ambitions for the City
