Job Title: Video and Multimedia Journalist

Working For: InFacts

Location: London

Salary: Competitive

Length of Contract:

Job Details

Are you a journalist with strong video and video-editing skills, plus a keen eye for sifting the facts from the nonsense? Do you want to work for a fast-paced political campaign with a real chance to change the direction this country is heading?

InFacts is looking for a video journalist, ideally with a broad range of digital multimedia skills, to generate online video content. This content is intended for an everyday audience – people not obsessed with the minutiae of Brexit. The aim: to cut through the Brexit noise, bust the most egregious Brexit myths, and help make head and/or tail of these topsy-turvy political times.

The main responsibilities of this role:

To film and edit regular (ideally daily) online videos focusing on specific issues in the Brexit debate;
To be constantly generating creative ideas to liven up heavy-going (and often technical) Brexit debates;
To work closely with the editorial and marketing teams to plan a coherent strategy and timetable for InFacts content;
To help promote InFacts content via social media.

A successful candidate will have the following skills:

Confident camera operator;
Video-editing to a professional quality (including on-screen graphics);
The ability to reduce a complex argument to easily comprehensible points;
Strong research skills and capacity to be across the news;
An understanding of the issues within the Brexit debate (or the willingness to learn fast).

We would also look favourably on a candidate with:

The ability to create infographics and design other online graphical content;
Previous experience working on political campaigns;
Confidence on a variety of social media platforms.
Contract: Full-time, six months (with the possibility for extension depending on political events)

About InFacts

InFacts is a journalistic enterprise making the fact based case against Brexit. We have been in operation since January 2016, with a small team of journalists fact-checking, analysing and rebutting the most egregious claims of the Brexit debate.

We are also a founding member of the People’s Vote, a campaign to give the people a vote on the terms of Theresa May’s final Brexit deal.

Closing Date: 31 August 2018

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews to be conducted on a rolling basis. An appointment may be made before the closing date if a suitable candidate is found.
