Job Details
Reprieve is a London based legal action charity (1114900) founded by human rights lawyer Clive Stafford Smith in 1999. We fight to end the world’s most extreme human rights abuses: the death penalty, assassinations and secret prisons. To us, the rule of law means little if we selectively apply it to people we agree with. It is for all of us.
The Head of Media raises awareness of Reprieve and its work at a global level through traditional and social media, in order to help deliver the organisation’s strategic and fundraising objectives. The post holder will be responsible for managing Reprieve’s Media Officer and co-managing Reprieve’s Paid Intern, and working with them to build relations with journalists; setting the organisation’s communications strategy and its implementation; providing media advice to relevant Reprieve staff; being part of the team that manages Reprieve’s various social media accounts; and working with other colleagues in ensuring all external messaging is consistent. The Head of Media will play a proactive and creative role in developing and pitching stories and will also help to create compelling content to provide to journalists, use in our external and profile raising work, and for use on the website and social media. The post holder will also be expected to be aware of potential reputational risks to Reprieve and advise on minimising any risks.
