Job Details

These are challenging times for public services. We are looking for a highly motivated person with enthusiasm, innovative ideas and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic, quickly changing policy environment.

Although this is a generic policy post, the immediate need is in the Transport and Environment policy team. It is desirable for you to have experience of contributing to policy development in these policy areas.

You will be helping London boroughs respond to the impact of spending reductions, drive investment in London’s transport infrastructure, improve London’s air quality, find solutions to London’s energy needs and develop creative and collective approaches to issues such as waste management and flooding - challenges that will in turn present opportunities for you to shape service delivery approaches and leave your mark on the London transport and environment landscape.

The role will require that you analyse policy and statistical information and you will apply this analysis and policy development to improve results for Londoners and to make London’s case to both central government and a range of critical stakeholders in London government. This will require you to build effective relationships across sectors, communicate, negotiate with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders, as well as experience of creative problem solving and managing a varied workload of projects in a pressurised environment.

London Councils represents the 32 boroughs and the City of London. We aim to get the best deal for Londoners and to ensure that London’s councils have the resources, freedoms and powers to do the best possible job for their residents and local businesses. We also run a number of services on behalf of the boroughs including the Freedom Pass, Taxicard and Health Emergency Badge.
