Founded in 1929, Faber and Faber is an independent publishing house that has published some of literature’s most famous titles, including William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. Their popular authors include the likes of Richard Ayoade and the award-winning author, Akhil Sharma.
The company are offering a 12 week internship for a Trainee Publishing Assistant to develop their knowledge and skills across various Faber departments including rights, sales, publicity, marketing, Faber Social, editorial and production. The successful candidate will learn how to provide administrative and general support to members of the team. They will also receive editorial training where they will learn how to proofread, write reports and create content for internal and external communications.
This is a multifaceted opportunity for a bright, dedicated individual with a desire to start a career in book publishing and develop their skills with the experienced team at Faber.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Administrative skills
Marketing / copywriting skills (e.g. how to use keywords)
Editorial skills
Research skills
Full understanding of the various departments in a publishing house
How to use SeeView, Nielsen BookScan and Amazon Vendor
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
Must have good organisational skills
General knowledge of how publishing works would be desirable
Basic IT skills
Strong passion for reading
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Must have an eye for accuracy and attention to detail
