Job Details

NLGN has been the leading think tank for local government, communities and public services for over twenty years. We seek to significantly improve lives by encouraging more creative, collaborative and self-determining places and organisations. We do this through thought leadership, networking and sharing of best practice and ideas.

We are offering a year-long internship with a difference. You will work on long term pieces of work, and experience all parts of the event organising process from logistics to marketing. This internship would suit someone dynamic and innovative, who is organised, quick to learn, and has superb attention to detail.

This internship is paid at significantly more than the living wage, and you will be a full member of our team. This could be an ideal position for a part time student or someone returning to work. We are a flexible organisation and will consider all circumstances and flexible working practices.

NLGN has three core values: creativity, collaboration and self-determination, which underline everything that we do. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate experience and commitment to these values.

This position will report to a Communications and Events Officer, and will work closely with the whole external affairs team. This position is for 2.5 days a week, although we are happy to be flexible with how those hours are broken down.

Skills and experience required:
• Strong communications skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent IT skills – including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
• Demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• Able to learn and apply new skills quickly
• Excellent interpersonal skills

Skills and experience desirable:
• Experience of events management
• An interest in local government
