Will Quince, Member of Parliament for Colchester, is looking to appoint a full-time caseworker to join his busy and dedicated team in his constituency office.

The successful candidate will work alongside Will’s existing caseworker dealing directly with constituents, working with Will to resolve problems on a wide range of issues involving local and national government. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic people person with excellent written and oral communication skills, an ability to work as part of a team, excellent organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software.

Whilst not essential, a keen interest in politics and local affairs is desirable, and candidates should be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse patterns of enquiries and produce reports
• Attending surgeries and other meetings as appropriate
• Dealing with standard queries from members of the public
• Draft responses to constituents
• Establish a social media presence in the constituency and publicise surgeries etc.
• Gathering relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act and the office’s General Data Protection Regulation practices

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
