Join a growing and pro-active team delivering help and support to individuals and communities across Ochil & South Perthshire.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, thorough and committed individual to work full-time in the constituency office of Luke Graham MP. The job title is for a Constituency Caseworker but includes a range of responsibilities.

You’ll be working with constituents and community groups, so no day will be boring.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Dealing with enquiries from members of the public
  • Draft responses to constituents, organisations and elected officials
  • Logging all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
  • Ensure enquiries are dealt with sensitively and confidentially
  • Retain records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act & GDPR
  • Gathering relevant information to assist with resolving cases by liaising with Government agencies, voluntary sector and others
  • Occasionally attending surgeries with MP
  • Assisting with local community campaigns
  • Supporting the work of other team members as required

Essential skills:

  • Good telephone manner and written communication skills, with confidence interacting with people at all levels
  • Ability to display sensitivity and tact in dealing with constituents' enquiries with an ability to prioritise and gatekeep effectively
  • Strong IT skills; competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook Excel)
  • Ability to work well and calmly in a high pressure environment and to tight deadlines
  • A trustworthy & discreet manner ensuring that the highest standards of confidentiality are upheld
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a busy team as well as on your own initiative independently
  • A full driver’s license & access to a vehicle for business use

Desirable skills:

  • A reasonable knowledge of key social and other policy issues.
  • An awareness of constituency and local issues.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
