Job Details

Imperial College London’s strategy makes explicit the link between external collaboration and academic excellence and undertakes to strengthen collaboration with academia, government institutions, business, healthcare and non-profit organisations across the globe.

The International Relations Office (IRO) is a busy, highly-visible central unit responsible for supporting the development and delivery of the College’s international engagement strategy. The team develops and maintains a portfolio of key relationships spanning research, education, innovation and policy, and provides briefings, strategic advice, horizon-scanning, coordination, and practical support for international partnerships.

Working closely with senior IRO staff, the Assistant International Relations Officer will play a key role in developing and implementing international academic partnership strategies.

• You will assist senior IRO staff in identifying emerging opportunities for the College to develop international peer-to-peer academic/government partnerships that help address global challenges and attract the best global talent. This will primarily focus on a specified geographical remit (Europe, North America, Latin America), but may include other regions as circumstances require.
• You will assist senior IRO staff with the arrangement of inwards and outwards visits by high-profile international and College delegations. This will include events and logistical support as well as assistance in the preparation of briefing and strategy documents for use during international visits.
• You will effectively promote the College’s interests externally, to organisations including foreign embassies based in the UK, British embassies overseas, collaborating peer institutions, FCO, UUKi, and consortia partners.
• You will coordinate the development and delivery of a programme of international events designed to engage key international groups including researchers and foreign diplomats.
