The External Relations Officer will play a key role in working with our members to communicate our policy messages. The post holder will report to the Director of Memberships and External relations but also work closely with our commercial team.
Key Responsibilities include
Policy
• To undertake research projects at the discretion of the CE and Director
• To assist the CE and director in engagement activities with both government and industry
• To produce a range of copy including press releases, blog posts and news articles
• To monitor developments in FE, skills and employment policy
• To play a key role in shaping our policy work
• To assist the director with policy and marketing projects
Communications
• To manage content across our social media platforms including monitoring and analytics
• Working to implement the Collab group marketing strategy
• To update content on the website
• To compile, edit and distribute a regular newsletter
• To work with the director to pitch articles to FE sector and industry press
Administration
• To provide administrative support for meetings
• To provide ad hoc support for projects and events
• To maintain accurate records and distribution lists
Duties may change in response to business demand. The successful candidate will need to be sufficiently adaptable and resourceful.

Essential
• Effective team working skills
• Excellent written communication skills including the ability to write high-quality copy
• Excellent research skills and an enthusiasm to learn
• Experience of working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to learn new skills “on the job”.
Desirable
• Educated to Degree standard
Background in one or more of the following:
o Working within Government (either at local, regional or national level)
o Working within the Education Sector
o Working within the Commercial Sector
o Working within a communications role
o Knowledge of content marketing and search engine optimisation techniques
The salary for this position is £21,000. A higher salary may be available to an exceptional candidate.
