The role

We are looking for a skilled communications professional, to play a crucial part in delivering a positive, proactive and energetic media engagement function for the Electoral Commission. As part of this role you will prepare comprehensive media handling plans; prepare senior internal stakeholders for media interviews; and use our social media channels to promote the Commission and its work.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment. In addition to their day-to-day media relations responsibilities, they will work closely with colleagues to promote the Commission’s policy positions and raise awareness of voter registration ahead of elections. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their ability to work individually and as part of a team and have demonstrable experience of building relationships with journalists.

Working at the Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission is the independent body which oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK. It works to promote public confidence in the democratic process and to ensure its integrity.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn about all areas of the Commission’s work. From its regulation of political finance to its support for local authorities as they deliver electoral events. They will also learn about how the Commission operates in the devolved nations and its accountabilities to parliaments and assemblies.
