Job Details

Our European headquarters, IRC UK, were established in London in 1997 to support the organisation’s global activities and particularly to diversify its donor base and be able to better advocate with European policy-makers on behalf of the people we serve. Since its establishment IRC UK has grown rapidly and is now acknowledged for its high quality project management, technical expertise and, increasingly, our policy and advocacy work. The IRC also has offices in Brussels, Berlin and Geneva, as well as regional programme offices in Greece and Serbia.

IRC UK comprises approximately 90 staff across five departments.

THE POLICY & ADVOCACY TEAM

Policy & Advocacy is a dynamic team combining our communications, policy and advocacy, and technical unit expertise in Europe. Its core purpose is to raise and develop the IRC as a thought leader in Europe and drive transformational change in the humanitarian sector, and specifically to dramatically increase the productivity of humanitarian aid and its ability to achieve outcomes for people living in and displaced by conflict and crisis.

THE BUSINESS REFUGEE ACTION NETWORK

Established in 2018, the Business Refugee Action Network (BRAN) has been set up as an initiative for peer to peer business learning, information sharing and piloting. The IRC’s humanitarian perspective and expertise is key to the network’s action oriented and operational approach. BRAN will be taking forward plans to develop the network and explore collaboration initiatives in 2018 – 2019 led by its founding members IRC, Virgin Unite, The B-Team, Ben and Jerry’s and the Tent Foundation

The Purpose of the Role

The Policy Officer – Economic Programmes & BRAN will work closely with IRC staff throughout the organisation and externally to help improve economic outcomes for communities affected by emergencies and displacement.

Closing Date: 14 October 2018

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will take place on 24th October 2018.
