The opportunity

Our client, a leading housing association is looking for a Press and External Affairs Officer to join their expanding communications team. This association is responsible for regenerating communities throughout the region and are set to become one of London’s largest developers. This is a critical time for housing and our client is looking for an astute officer with experience in public affairs and press to bolster their communications.

Main responsibilities

  • Supporting the delivery of the external affairs strategy, working collaboratively with the Head of Communications
  • Maintain relationships with key trade, local and national journalists
  • Work with internal teams including Executive Group, Board and relevant leaders to assist in the delivery of the communications strategy
  • Liaise with external contacts to ensure effective delivery of corporate comms, external affairs including politicians, local authorities etc
  • Translate complex policy and technical language into plain English to help maximise public and political understanding of the organisation’s work

Key responsibilities and skills required

  • Experience in the housing, development, property, planning, regeneration, community is essential
  • Demonstrable experience working in a press team environment
  • Experience of working in public affairs, policy
  • Proven track record of producing high quality communications collateral
