Job Details
To provide the Assembly Member (AM) with administrative, constituency and publicity support ensuring that standards of confidentiality are maintained.
Main Duties:
- Respond to enquiries from constituents. Answer telephone, take messages and deal with enquiries and requests as appropriate, including drafting responses to routine matters.
- Carry out research into local and regional issues ensuring the Assembly member is updated on any relevant matters. This will include some casework (issues arising in constituency correspondence) as agreed with the AM
- Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the Data Protection Act and GDPR
Essential Knowledge and Experience
- Some experience of administrative work and a small office environment
- Good knowledge of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot area and relevant issues
- Some experience of using Microsoft packages
Essential Qualifications
- NVQ Qualification level 3 or 4 or equivalent in a relevant subject or;
- Demonstrable numeracy and literacy skills e.g. English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) at Grade C or above
Essential Skills and Behaviours
- Effective organisation and planning skills
- Ability to work on own initiative to tight deadlines, with the ability to work flexibly and juggle a range of tasks
- Effective literacy and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a range of people. Willingness to speak directly to people in person or by phone not just via email.
