The opportunity
As part of the Government Affairs team, the Public Affairs Executive will report into the Head of the department working on the public affairs political monitoring and engagement for the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to work for an organisation at the forefront of UK pharmaceutical developments and will work closely with the government, leading medical research charities and pharmaceutical organisations.

Main responsibilities

  • Deliver the organisations parliamentary programme providing valuable insights into current and political affairs
  • Produce a daily round up of Government Affairs to the organisations members
  • Managing Parliamentary events across the Life Sciences sector alongside partnering trade associations
  • Monitor political intelligence and asses its impact on the pharmaceutical industry
  • Assist in the development of advocacy strategies for the organisations key issues
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relations through setting up meetings, conducting research and preparing briefings
  • Coordinate regular meetings of the geographical group secretariat for Europe, Japan and America
  • Develop and deliver policy briefings alongside the policy team, including for a variety of debates including those in parliament

Key skills and experience required

  • Knowledge and understanding of parliament and parliamentary processes
  • Policy experience in a relevant area including health, science and business
  • A keen interest in current affairs and politics
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • The ability to project manage and balance workloads to cope with deadlines
  • The ability to work in a team and maintain a positive can do attitude
