Job Details

Programme Officer/Research Assistant (m/f), part time (Mon-Thur), London, start date 15 January 2019.

The German/English think tank Convoco deals with socio-political research and encourages interdisciplinary exchange between the private sector and the arts and sciences. The idea is to bring academics together with leaders of the economy, politics, law, and culture. For this purpose, Convoco offers different platforms: lectures in Berlin and London and an annual two-day conference in Salzburg—the Convoco Forum—as well as a website, a newsletter, and an annual book publication in German and English. www.convoco.co.uk

The applicant must have strong organisational skills (preparation and organisation of lectures and conferences, guest management) and must be confident using a wide range of software programmes (Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, Eventkingdom). Knowledge of Drupal (CMS) and basic image/video editing skills are highly desirable as the candidate will be responsible for the management of the website. Experience of managing social media accounts is also beneficial.

A large part of the correspondence and research will be in German, it is therefore essential that the candidate has native-speaker-level written and spoken German and excellent English language skills.

The applicant should have experience of academic work, as the job will include research on Convoco’s yearly changing topics as well as editing of the German and English book publication, and occasional work on speeches and introductory texts.

This position would ideally suit a candidate who has obtained their MA and has experience in organising workshops and conferences. Strong communication skills are essential. We are looking for somebody with excellent analytical and computer skills, an engaging nature, a strong interest in questions surrounding politics, economics, law, and society, and a quick mind.
