Dame Cheryl Gillan MP, Member of Parliament for Chesham and Amersham, is recruiting for a Parliamentary Assistant to join her Westminster office.
The position will require you to work as part of Dame Cheryl’s busy Parliamentary team, helping with research, parliamentary business, constituency casework and general office tasks, and occasionally working with Dame Cheryl in her constituency of Chesham and Amersham.
The position would suit a candidate with some knowledge and experience of politics, government and the workings of Parliament. Some parliamentary experience would be helpful.
The applicant must have:
• Good communication skills and telephone manner
• Outstanding written skills
• The ability to multitask
• A keen attention to detail
• A willingness to complete work quickly, to a high standard, often under pressure
• An understanding of the issues that affect the constituency
• A sympathetic attitude towards the aims of the Conservative Party
Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
