Job Details

Citizens Advice provides free, independent and impartial advice and information to help people resolve their legal, money and other problems. In the past year we have helped over 2.5 million people solve over 6.2 million problems. Our national network delivers services from over 3,000 locations in England and Wales. In 2015 we won Charity Times Charity of the Year for our work. Now we want to do even more.

Full time. Fixed Term for 11 months. Job ref: 18\196

We live in fascinating political times, and Citizens Advice continues to cut through and achieve changes that help people. We’re looking for a campaigns and public affairs professional who understands how to influence decision-makers and the public so we continue to make a positive impact.

Citizens Advice provides people with the advice they need, and tries to fix the underlying cause of their problems. From 2,700 locations, we help 2.7 million people a year and we have a duty to represent consumers. Our unique data from across England and Wales means we know the issues that matter to people most. We use this insight to develop policy solutions so government and industry can solve these problems.

This is an exciting opportunity to support and gain experience in a busy, high-performing campaigns and public affairs team. We work on a huge variety of areas that take us to almost every corner of Whitehall. At the moment we’re aiming to get a fairer deal for consumers in essential markets, to make sure the benefits system works for those who need it most, and to help people to stay in control of their finances.

The ideal candidate will understand the main issues on the Government and the opposition’s agendas. You should be aware of the workings of parliament and government and have a good political antennae in order to support the organisation and identify opportunities and risks within our work. You should be a first class communicator, with the ability to build productive working relationships and write persuasively for a variety of audiences.
