We are seeking a Policy and Public Affairs Executive to support us in achieving our policy and public affairs objectives, working closely with our communications and membership teams and supporting senior management. The postholder will communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders and will support the team in monitoring political developments and responding to these as appropriate.

The Policy Team sits within the Policy & Practice directorate, and provides specialist political knowledge of the sector to the organisation, influencing policies regarding the private rented sector and advocating for our members. We work closely with communications and membership colleagues to share messaging and content with our members, as well as a number of external stakeholders across national and local governments and the wider housing sector.

The role is offered on a six-month fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension.

Main responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing our policy strategy and political engagement at national and local/regional levels. This includes political monitoring, desk-based research, analysis, briefing, and administrative tasks, as required.
  • Maintain and develop systems and tools & support routine work eg contacts database, consultations log and online documents library, and responding to correspondence and queries from members and stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery of policy projects and campaign activity, including working with external stakeholders.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure effective communication of policy content internally and externally.
