Job Title: Support Officer, Mayor's Office
Working For: London Borough of Hackney
Salary: £18.61 p.h.
The role is a temporary position for a three month period, pending completion of an office review and new roles then being advertised on a permanent basis.
Hackney is London's most diverse, dynamic borough. Reaching from the Square Mile to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this is an area of rapid economic growth, particularly in technology, media, fashion and other creative industries. Hackney has more green spaces than any other inner London borough; some of the capital's finest schools; first class transport connections; excellent public services; and thriving arts, cultural and retail sectors. We seek people with ambition, creativity and commitment to ensure our economic growth provides benefits for everyone and creates opportunities to transform the lives of residents.
Philip Glanville, the directly elected Labour Mayor of Hackney, was re-elected in May 2018 to serve his first full term. As Support Officer you will be responsible for delivering a seamless and high quality support service to two members of the Mayor's Cabinet, including the Deputy Mayor. This is a wide ranging and challenging role responsible for managing diaries, briefing requests and correspondence on a daily basis.
This role will liaise closely with the Mayor and Cabinet, senior officers and their teams, operating in a politically sensitive environment.
You will need to be a highly motivated, proactive individual with strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to work with members and officers across all parts of the organisation. Experience of working under pressure in a political environment and at a high level is desirable. You must have experience in independently carrying out duties effectively and in a manner which respects confidentiality and data protection.
Closing Date: 12 October 2018
This is an interim post so we may appoint before the closing date if the right candidate is found.
The successful candidate must be available to start work by w/c 15 October 2018.
