OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Office of the Executive Director exists to ensure the proper and ethical governance of MSF-UK and Ireland (MSF-UK/IE); to ensure continuity and stability; and a section and branch office that is fit for the challenges of the future.

Collectively, it is responsible for strategy and accountability; governance; regulatory compliance, risk management, ensuring effective leadership and management; change and innovation; relationships with the OCA partnership and wider MSF movement; and the overall health of MSF-UK/IE.

JOB PURPOSE

This newly created role within the office of the Executive Director will lead on selected portfolios covering regulatory policy, compliance and risk. The role will work across the departments, leading work to ensure that MSF UK abides by UK legal and regulatory requirements and that MSF-UK and Ireland’s activities are informed by robust and active risk analysis.
We are looking to recruit a professional that understands the value of and has confidence, knowledge and experience in analysing the impact of legal and regulatory change, proactive policy development and comprehensive risk management.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Legal and regulatory policy
· Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current regulatory legislation in relevant areas, including awareness of forthcoming changes and trends in UK and EU regulation.

· Develop and maintain robust reporting procedures to ensure MSF UK is able to fulfil its regulatory obligations, including reporting of Serious Incidents to the Charity Commission.

Policy development

· Lead responsive and proactive policy development across a range of areas, mainly focused on legal and regulatory issues and risk mitigation.

Risk management

· Review and revise the risk management tools and processes to support the operating effectiveness of MSF UK. The tool should be dynamic, nimble and enable robust risk-based decision making and prioritisation.
