Job Details

As real as it gets.

At MI5, we protect the UK against a range of threats – everything from terrorism and espionage, to serious cyber-crime. Our Application Architects are crucial to our work, as they develop flexible, innovative and dynamic solutions. Without these solutions, we simply couldn’t keep the country safe. So while you’ll build imaginary worlds at other organisations, at MI5, you’ll use your skills to protect the real world.

You’ll have the unique chance to become a specialist in a particular business stream. Strategically-focused, your work will be aligned to larger plans and shape how we deliver both our bespoke and off-the-shelf applications. To do this, you’ll collaborate with other business areas to define problems, advise on application architecture and coach our developers. You’ll also design interface specifications and write high-level designs for chosen solutions. Forward-thinking, you’ll be keen to reflect emerging trends in your recommendations and contribute to system roadmaps.

To join, you’ll need experience of successful application design and integration in large-scale enterprise organisations. This’ll be underpinned by your background in a high-level language, and your understanding of distributed architectures. We work in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, so you’ll need to juggle priorities confidently and adapt well to change. Plus, with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for technology, you’ll inspire developers, reassure stakeholders and commit to long-term projects.

Join now, for work that’s as real as it gets.

We particularly welcome applications from women and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates.
