A rare opportunity has arisen to join Stella Creasy's team as a caseworker. Based primarily in the constituency office in Walthamstow in East London, this part time job with flexible hours would suit someone wishing to combine caring commitments or studying with helping change lives by being part of a dynamic group of people passionate about social justice. The successful applicant will work within a small casework team to support the MP dealing with a wide range of issues and in providing a first class advice service to the people of Walthamstow.

Duties will include:

  • Liaising with various agencies and organisations to resolve constituents' problems and prevent them happening again.
  • Dealing with correspondence, telephone enquiries and emails and providing timely responses.
  • Attending surgeries and other meetings and taking notes.
  • Helping develop and support relationships with community groups, statutory services and voluntary organisations as part of campaigning activities with the MP.
  • Developing policy and local knowledge to help support the MP to undertake her duties.

Skills required include: 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritise, manage own workload and project management skills.
  • Good IT skills – knowledge of and use of casework and customer relationship management databases be helpful.
  • Good customer service skills - ability to deal with constituents and community interest groups in a helpful and sympathetic manner.
  • Able to work well individually and as part of a team - willingness to debate the correct order for showing children the star wars films as well as source decent biscuits for dunking in tea useful but not essential. 
  • Experience of advising on subjects such as housing, welfare benefits or immigration issues or community advocacy work would be beneficial.

Please note this role may entail evening and weekend activities within the constituency and/or at Westminster.
