Job Purpose

This role will suit an exceptionally organised and engaging individual, with excellent relationship and project management skills who is driven to create change for the most vulnerable older people in our society.

This role will be responsible for developing strong relationships with our powerful network of federated charities, known as local Age UK charities, to create a groundswell of local support for our national campaigns. You will use your strong verbal and written communications skills to ensure our team makes the most of our unique network to create national change.

The role will involve frequent travel around England to meet these charities and the older people they support. You will also work with local Age UK charities to grow their capacity and develop their skills to deliver their own local campaigns.

Main Responsibilities
• To be the first port of call for local Age UK charities and their campaigning needs – whether that’s supporting them to effectively implement our national campaigns locally or run their own local campaigns. This may involve developing activities and materials to effectively deliver this.

• Devise and implement events which support local Age UK charities to develop their influencing and campaigning skills, particularly the annual Influencing Conference and local summits.

• Support the development and implementation of Age UK’s strategy for local influencing by working collaboratively across the Charity, the Influencing Committee and with members of Age UK’s federated network of local charities.

• To gather information from local Age UK charities and older people directly on issues they are facing in order to influence our campaigning priorities.

• To ensure local Age UK charities understand how the External Affairs team and this role can support them to influence local and national decision-making.

• Support the overall work programme of the External Affairs Team, particularly but not exclusively as regards local influencing
