The Rt Hon Christopher Pincher MP is seeking a Parliamentary Assistant (though applications for a Senior Parliamentary Assistant will be considered) to support his role as both Member of Parliament for Tamworth and Deputy Chief Whip in Parliament.

The role mostly includes, but is not limited to:

  • Diary management
  • Policy briefings
  • Speech writing
  • Media management
  • Some constituency casework
  • Social media and website management
  • Ad-hoc activities that will be required that support the Government’s priorities

Key skills and requirements of the successful candidate:

  • Must be well organised and have excellent time management
  • Calm and polite manner and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent oral and written standard of English
  • Ability to able to condense large amounts of complex information and present it in a succinct way, often to tight timescales
  • A good understanding of the media as there will be a lot of contact with local, sometimes national, publications
  • An excellent understanding of social media and website management
  • An alignment with the values of the Conservative Party and experience of political campaigning is desirable.

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interviews will start immediately with successful candidate potentially chosen before the closing date of 17th December 2018. Start date for will be mid-late January 2019.
