THE ROLE

We are looking to appoint a Public and Government Affairs Manager. This role will join a newly established Public Affairs team which sits as part of the broader policy team.

The Policy team work across all areas of the Bank on a variety of issues. Their core role is to ensure that the Bank operates effectively as a part of Government, whilst maintaining its operational independence.

This includes advising Government and Ministers on access to finance issues and ensuring that the Bank is well placed to engage with the Government’s wider policy objectives; whilst also maintaining stakeholder relationships across Whitehall and participating in national and international fora on SME access to finance issues.

The team currently plays a key role is setting the future direction of the Bank, and Government’s SME access to finance policies, particularly in light of the EU referendum result.

To be successful in this position, the skills and experience we are looking for must include concise written drafting, experience working in Government and the ability to form partnerships and common approaches, and of managing complex interactions with a range of stakeholders, including internally and on Whitehall’s.
