Key Activities & Responsibilities
• Manage TheCityUK’s programme of roundtable engagements, identifying and inviting relevant policymakers as required
• Manage a 1-1 programme of meetings with relevant political audiences and policymakers
• Lead on drafting letters to policymakers delivering key messages and/or inviting them to speaking engagements (with relevant input from the organisation and public affairs team)
• Provide briefings for TheCityUK CEO and senior team in advance of meetings with politicians
• Lead on preparing agendas and papers for all internal public affairs team meetings.
• Lead on updating TheCityUK’s planner with key dates related to internal and external events, and key dates related to the political and policymaking cycle (liaising with internal teams and public affairs agency where relevant)
• Oversee TheCityUK tracker system for monitoring contact with policymakers.
• Support the public affairs team in distributing key messages and collateral to policymakers, including through mailings and briefings.
• Assist with identifying key stakeholders for report distribution and policy formation.
• Perform any other duties as required to fulfil the role and objectives of the PA team.

Person Specification
Essential:
• Experience of a public affairs environment
• Understanding of and interest in Westminster and UK politics, including an interest in UK parliament
• “Self-starting”/prioritising tasks/attention to detail/conscientious/takes responsibility and ownership
• Excellent influencing and communications skills
• A collaborative and collegiate style
• Experience of a client and/or member service environment
• Ability to network, develop relationships and work with senior individuals across a range of organisations
• Analytical and writing skills of a high calibre
• Ability to develop and learn as policy areas develop
• Good understanding of broader communications and stakeholder engagement skills
