We are seeking an experienced political and security risk analyst to be based in our Central London office.

The role involves editing and writing geopolitical intelligence reports to the highest editorial standards for the Assynt Report portal, enabling Falanx Assynt to provide timely, forward-looking analysis to clients.

Responsibilities

• Editing and writing of geopolitical intelligence reports across a range of countries and regions for the Assynt Portal
• Working with the Director of Geopolitical Intelligence to ensure and maintain the high quality of analytical reporting across all Assynt Portal reports
• Providing editorial guidance to junior analysts and assisting with training of new and junior staff members
• Undertaking desktop research and assisting in the preparation and delivery of client briefings as required
• Managing or providing project assistance on other strategic and geopolitical risk reporting as required
• Assisting in recruitment of new analysts
• Developing and maintaining a good personal network across academia, industry, think tanks and Government
• Managing and growing relationship with various internal stakeholders
• Providing client support as required

Skills / Background

• Excellent understanding of principal geopolitical and security risks in emerging markets and how these impact on the private sector
• Excellent analytical judgement, as well as capability to identify political and security issues and likely consequences
• Advanced understanding of major political and security risks in Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America strongly preferable
• Ability to write clearly, simply, imaginatively and compellingly in English
• Strong writing and editorial skills
• Superb attention to detail
• Experience of producing high-end, visually sophisticated reporting
• Foreign languages an advantage
• Solid relationship building skills
• Experience of contract management and client liaison desirable
• Exposure to and understanding of cyber-security-related threats
• Experience of living and working in foreign countries an advantage
• At least four years' work experience in a related field
• Post-graduate qualification in International Studies or related subjects is desirable
