Job Details

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families supports distressed children and their families through innovative therapeutic practice and research, training and promoting awareness of mental health issues.

There is increasing awareness of high levels of mental health needs in schools across England. Schools are asking for guidance on the best ways to support their pupils. The Education for Wellbeing programme is the largest randomised controlled trial (RCT) in school-based mental health in England.

The trial will take place in over 300 schools and 26,000 pupils across England. Over 200 of these schools have already started and a further 150 schools are being recruited. Dr Deighton and her team are investigating five new mental health promotion approaches and comparing them with current practice in schools. Schools are randomly allocated to use one of the approaches only.

We are looking for an efficient, hardworking programme officer to provide coordination and administrative support to the Education for Wellbeing team. The post-holder will be the first point of contact for schools taking part in the programme and will lead on ensuring the smooth running of mental health training events for school staff.

The role would ideally suit a strong administrator who has experience of working in a busy office environment and providing support to a research project or not-for-profit organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for the post-holder to gain in-depth knowledge of the workings of a multi-arm cluster RCT within the context of the education system.
