About us

We are the largest community funder in the UK – we’re proud to award money raised by National Lottery players to communities across the UK. Last year alone we gave out over half a billion pounds (£508.5 million) of National Lottery funding to over 11,000 community projects across the UK, enabling even more people and communities to bring their ideas and ambitions to life.

At the heart of everything we do is the belief that when people are in the lead, communities thrive. National Lottery funding is open to everyone and we’re privileged to be able to work with the smallest of grassroots groups right up to large UK-wide charities.

We are looking for diverse and talented people who share our values and are passionate about funding great ideas that matter to communities and make a difference to people’s lives.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced policy professional who is passionate about communities and committed to sharing the learning from our projects at the national level.

You will have the chance to build a cross-organisational team to gather the Fund’s collective knowledge, share our learning to improve public policy, meet people from an incredible array of projects, and draft smart and incisive policy content aimed at external audiences, including key policy makers.

You will be part of a small, dynamic team at the heart of the Big Lottery Fund, and one that has a big part to play in the delivery of our Strategic Framework.

The Fund offers a generous salary and benefits package, including a full Civil Service pension.

We are open to part time and job share applications.

The person

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • A strong grasp of the current policy environment, including developing issues and themes
  • Excellent policy analysis skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Experience of enabling collaboration across large organisations
  • Experience of project management

The Fund is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.

Closing Date: 14 February 2019

Interview/Start Dates

Hours per week: 37

Interview will take place week commencing 18 February 2019.
